Barstool's Only Mini Golf Champion With Actual Hardware Weighs In On A Potential Tournament

Miniature Golf is something anyone can really do. It's a novelty game that involves standing around and barely moving. Hitting a ball too hard is counterproductive. You can walk to the hole in a few paces. So strength and size play zero factor. Everyone has a story about how they had won a mini golf tournament back in the day, but very few people can actually prove it. Smitty even says he won once a long time ago and they didn't give him his trophy, just wrote his name on a whiteboard. It all sounds like a bunch of hooey to me.

But I did actually win a mini golf tournament. Back in 2005, I played at The Sand Trap in Long Beach Island, New Jersey and put on a show on a Tuesday morning in July. I had a 30 going through 16 holes before a near collapse on 17 which resulted in a five. Then finished strong with a two on 18.

A 37 through 18 put me in a playoff with two middle schoolers. After some brief mental warfare (mainly staring down the shit out of one of them), he choked on the Windmill on 1. On hole 2 I ended things with a quick two and that was that. The only mini golf tournament I've ever played in, I won.

Now I know there are a lot of accomplished golfers at Barstool and other people who have play a lot. I am neither. I go 1-3 times in a given year now as my priorities have shifted a lot in the last 16 years. But that being said, I absolutely still think I can put on and win a Barstool Mini Golf Tournament. I'm the only one in the office with that type of Championship mettle, so I would like to throw my hat firmly in the ring if one ever does happen.
