BREAKING: Major League Baseball Has Suspended Trevor Bauer 324 Games For Violating The Sport's Domestic Violence Policy

Holy fuck. My honest reaction to this is complete and utter shock. My jaw hit the floor when I got the Passan notification. A two year suspension that doesn't include any of the 99 games Bauer sat out last year is unprecedented and stunning.

It seems the extremely high number stems from the fact Bauer and Major League Baseball never reached a settlement agreement, which every player in his situation had done in prior cases.

Clearly Bauer strongly believed he didn't deserve any further games and wouldn't entertain the thought of a settlement. MLB dropped a hammer on him as a result, knowing that number will almost certainly get reduced. Crazy. I don't like Bauer and I think he's a weird asshole, but I don't see how you can view the evidence and facts in his situation, compare it to other domestic violence cases, and get to this number of games. Marcell Ozuna got a 20 game suspension and is out there in the lineup everyday for Atlanta. Domingo German received 81 games for his ugly incident. Make it make sense to me. Is it really just because they didn't settle or is this the commissioner taking it out on a guy who is overly critical of almost everything he does?

Get ready for a long fight of appeals. Bauer has already tweeted his response and I can't imagine he'll stop there.
