LaMelo Ball Got REJECTED On A Garbage Time Layup That Would’ve Been The Ultimate Backdoor OVER In The Hornets-Hawks Game

Usually in sports betting you see what's commonly known as a backdoor cover. That occurs when a team makes up meaningless points in garbage time to cover the spread. In this instance, LaMelo Ball was trying to fuck around and execute a backdoor OVER by driving to the rim instead of dribbling out the clock with seconds remaining like a normal human being would. Trailing by 29 points apparently wasn't embarrassing enough.

Nah, LaMelo figured he'd risk one more rep in as the Hornets' season ticked away in Atlanta. Turns out, the Over/Under before this play-in game was 235.5 points, and the score at the time was 132-103. Drama was building. GORGUI DIENG was hoisting 3-pointers and even made one!

THE MOMENT OF TRUTH ARRIVED, AND……..

Full disclosure: I bet the Under. I recommended it as a play in my NBA Play-In Tournament betting preview for Wednesday. I'm not above telling you that I was yelling at the TV. I love LaMelo for the most part, but he was about to cross a fucking LINE. It was bad enough Charlotte got us here in the first place by allowing the Hawks to score at WILL all night long and shoot over 52%.

I don't know what algorithms or big brains these oddsmakers use, but it blows me away how often the NBA total points line are bang-on. It never ceases to surprise me, no matter how many times I see it.

With all that out of the way: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Sorry Hornets fans. I'm not laughing at you. I'm laughing with the Hawks fans who are laughing at you for your laughingstock of an effort on the defensive end.

I agree with Reags and Big Cat: We need to stop giving people shit for celebrating wins. Life's too short.
