I Just Had My Mind Blown Watching These Racing Trucks Send it to the Moon

I love watching cars go fast and I've watched a lot of racing over the years, but when I saw this random clip on my timeline it blew my mind and made me re-think everything I knew about racing. I have no idea what is going on and how this is a thing, but I am HOOKED. Watching that clip, there are so many layers to unpack here.

First: These trucks look unreal. Like not actually something that looks real. These trucks are tanks on wheels and they are flying out on track. They somehow turned the lifted truck you would see littered across the parking lot of a country concert into a precision racing machine that can also ram into other cars with no problem. I’ve watched a few NASCAR Truck Series races in my life, so I’m not surprised that a truck can go fast, but these bad boys are on a different level. It’s like a regular truck took Jack3d and did deadlifts everyday for a summer. How are these cars even possible???

Second: Since when did they start putting jumps in the middle of race car tracks??? I could not believe what I was watching when the first truck went airborne. It wasn’t until the second car went flying into the air and landed like nothing happened that I realized they were actually doing this on purpose.

You Know What’s Cool: Race Cars.

You Know What’s Even Cooler: Race Cars Getting Sent to the Moon.

Yeah, Daytona, Monaco, Indianapolis Motor Speedway are cool and all, but what they lack is simple: X Games jumps. This just raised the bar for every race I ever watch from this point forward.

Also, this was a street circuit track, so they just put these ramps in the middle of normal roads that everyday people drive down just for this one event. I know that they were running other races there this weekend but still it’s wild that they just threw down these massive ramps and sent Trucks off of them like it was no big deal. Would love to see them keep these ramps up for a day or two after the race just to see what would happen. Seems like a big miss if they don’t let some guy in a Toyota Corolla give it a go on his Monday morning commute just to see what would happen.

Third: Who the hell is Cletus McFarland??? I was so captivated by these trucks going airborne that I didn’t even look at who was racing. I was trying to figure out who the guy was that choked the ending of the race and then I looked at the ticker. Turns out it was the #1776 car driven by Cletus Mcfarland. Hard to get more American than that combo. I guess this guy is a big deal. He’s a famous YouTuber and this was his first time racing in this series. I fell down the rabbit hole last night watching his Youtube channel and he seems like a great guy that just loves cars and going fast. He put out a full behind the scenes video of his race this past weekend that’s a very fun watch if you want to see more.

Forth: In sports, what takes a moment from great to iconic is how the announcer calls it. This guy NAILED it. Take a bow.

THROW IT IN REVERSE!! THROW IT IN REVERSE!! Iconic.

Fifth and Finally: I did some more digging into this Stadium Super Trucks Series and turns out a 13 year old was out there racing all weekend. Not only was he driving these massive trucks, hitting jumps, but he also won one of the races and finished in third place in the other. I was terrified of merging onto the highway when I was learning how to drive at age 15 and this kid is out here popping non-alcoholic champagne on the podium. Incredible.

His name is Max Gordon and he’s the son of the owner of the series, Robby Gordon. Robby Gordon was also out there racing and ended up winning the race after Mcfarland binned it. What a family affair out there in the Stadium Super Trucks Series. You love to see it!

I am ALL IN on this racing series. Sign me up for the next race, I need to see these things in person. If you want to fall down the rabbit hole like I did, here are some other great videos to watch.
