The Foo Fighters Made Grammy History Tonight

Pitchfork - Foo Fighters have won three rock awards at the 2022 Grammy Awards. The band members won the awards as they mourn their late drummer Taylor Hawkins, who died in March. Formally, the Grammys go to Foo Fighters and all the members, including Dave Grohl and Hawkins.

The band won the Grammy for Best Rock Performance for their recording of “Making a Fire.” Other nominees included AC/DC (“Shot in the Dark”), Black Pumas (“Know You Better”), the late Chris Cornell (“Nothing Compares 2 U”), and Deftones (“Ohms”).

Next, Foo Fighters’ track “Waiting on a War” won Best Rock Song over music by fellow nominees Weezer (“All My Favorite Songs”), Kings of Leon (“The Bandit”), Mammoth WVH (“Distance”), and Paul McCartney (“Find My Way”).

Lastly, Foo Fighters’ album Medicine at Midnight won Best Rock Album. It was nominated alongside AC/DC’s Power Up, Black Pumas’ Capitol Cuts: Live From Studio A, the late Chris Cornell’s No One Sings Like You Anymore Vol. 1, and Paul McCartney’s McCartney III.

The Foo Fighters won every Grammy they were nominated for at tonight's Grammy Awards.

Sadly, they weren't in attendance to accept them, or to perform as they were scheduled to obviously mourning the death of their friend and bandmate Taylor Hawkins.

They took home Best Rock Performance for their recording of “Making a Fire.”

I came across this this week and was pretty blown away.

Taylor Hawkins tells the entire story of his years with Foo Fighters and his brotherhood with Dave Grohl in never-before-heard audio on the new episode of Rolling Stone Music Now. This is A MUST LISTEN for Foo Fighters fans.

It includes the time early in his tenure when Dave Grohl told the late drummer, “This is how it is. It’s my fucking band. If you don’t like it, fucking beat it,” and Hawkins actually quit the band — for all of 24 hours.
