Rest In Peace Taylor Hawkins

The Foo Fighters just put out the above statement, announcing the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins. He was 50. There's no cause of death given - they just ask to respect the family's privacy at this time. Taylor leaves behind his wife Alison, his 16-year-old son, Oliver Shane, and his 13-year-old daughter Annabelle.

I, like many of you, am shocked and stunned to my core right now. I can't believe this news, and don't want to believe it. Taylor Hawkins is one of my favorite musicians of all time - not only for his amazing talent singing/drumming in the Foo Fighters, but because of his personality when he'd come out from behind the kit as well! He's one of the most likable drummers in rock history, from the smiles/borderline "writhing in pain" faces he'd make while playing to the awesome backup singing to the hysterical kick drum tributes over the years and more!

I mean, god, he even came out of his hotel in the rain to take a picture with this little girl when he heard her drumming on the street a few days ago!

From all the talk show appearances with Dave Grohl....

….to all the mid-show banter with the band and his usual Queen covers during gigs these past few years….

….there's truly nothing not to love about Taylor Hawkins.

He'd even been taking his son on the road with him recently and letting him sit side-stage all show - one of the coolest dad moves ever; not to mention his hilarious/amazing side projects….

I just can't believe he's gone. He just headlined Lollapalooza Argentina with the Foo Fighters four days ago!

You cannot help but feel devastated for Taylor's family and loved ones, including Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters. Dave just lost his best friend, again, and the world lost one of its greatest drummers. Can't stress this enough - see your favorite artists when they come to town. You'll regret it if you pass up on an opportunity you can never get back.

Rest in peace Taylor Hawkins.
