I mean holy shit. Talk about coming in and shaking things up. Details of the trade are still TBD, but said to be "prime draft pick compensation".

That has to mean a 1st round pick, right?

If it is, then I like this pick. Mack is the Bears' highest paid player by far with a $30M cap hit and returns have been diminishing even though he is still awesome. I don't know if this means rebuild or if Poles and Eberflus simply think Mack doesn't provide the same value in their system. 

Poles said that the Bears would be building through the draft and it is hard to do that if your predecessor traded all of your draft capital. 

The Bears are supposedly getting the Chargers' 2nd round pick in this coming draft. 48th overall

This is something I have thought the Bears should be doing for a while now

Mack only played 7 games last year. He's on the wrong side of 30. It is time to rebuild and spread money around the roster because, as we all know, there are plenty of holes. I am sure Mack will have a MONSTER year opposite of Joey Bosa. 

I wish the Bears could've gotten a little more for him, but clearing cap space and getting draft capital is more important for the Bears right now. I like the move. A bold start for the new regime.
