"Maury" Has Been Canceled After 30+ Years On TV, So Let's Watch Some Of Its Greatest Moments
Absolutely SHOCKING news out of the entertainment world with the plug being pulled on a first ballot Hall of Fame trashy TV show. Okay, "Absolutely" and "SHOCKING" are probably a tad extreme since I feel like nobody actually watches regular TV anymore now that the internet is truly humming and you could've told me that Maury stopped filming new episodes 10 years ago and I'd believe you. Shit, 2012 is somehow 10 years ago, huh? You could've told me Maury stopped filming new episodes in the year 2000, which was 22 years ago (Sidenote: FUUUUUUCK ME) and I wouldn't have batted an eyelash.
I'm not sure if that's because I always felt like I was watching a rerun or that the content was timeless. But the fact remains that Maury was a staple in all of our lives whenever we were home sick from school or home during the day and wanted to see some of the most fascinating characters daytime TV could churn out this side of the Jerry Springer Show.

To be clear, I am not just talking about the You Are NOT The Father paternity result moments. Those were clearly the straw the stirred the shitshow drink on Maury. But you cannot discount how that show was able to seamlessly pivot to other riveting segments like people with crazy phobias running away from giant versions of their worst fears.
Or using a polygraph as the inventor intended, to see if your baby daddy was cheating on you with your best friend, your sister, or God forbid your mom.
But clearly the You Are NOT The Father was the segment that turned Maury into a smashing success. I've been looking for a way to refresh The Podfathers franchise a bit and considering Barstool is all of a sudden a full blown media company along with Maury no longer being on air, perhaps we can carry the torch for paternity results moving forward since they ALWAYS put asses in the seats.

P.S. I always loved that Maury Povich and Connie Chung have been married for almost 40 years as a lowkey charming entertainment couple like the minor league TV version of Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson. If you didn't know this already, consider it your Fun Fact of the Day.
