NYC Schools Are Going With Vegan-Only Meals On Fridays And The Students Have No Choice But To Revolt

NY Post

In keeping with Mayor Eric Adams’ focus on fitness, the nation’s largest school system will serve vegan-only meals every Friday starting this week throughout the academic year.

The dietary practice — which disallows meat and dairy — will scrap staples like mac and cheese and replace them with veggie tacos and other plant-based dishes, the Department of Education said Thursday.

The program, set to kick off Friday, will attempt to coax kids with vegan variants ranging from plantain and rice bowls to Mediterranean chickpeas.

Absolutely not. First they decided on Meatless Mondays, as if the first day back from the weekend wasn't bad enough. Now schools are going with Vegan Fridays to further make kids' lives as miserable as humanly possible. I won't stand for it.

I don't know about you, but Friday lunch as a kid was the best day of the week. Once a month it would be Dominos pizza for us, which I admit we were spoiled with. Realizing it was Dominos day was pure euphoria. Other times you'd get something like chicken tenders or calzones. It was Friday for crying out loud, you made it through the week so you deserve to be happy. Now kids are going to be staring at options like seasoned broccoli salad, spinach and cranberry salad, and roasted cauliflower. Nightmare fuel. Are we trying to sabotage the next generation before they even have a chance? How are you going to take away mac n cheese and give me a veggie taco instead? Fuck you, look at this shit.

I think they got better food at Fyre Festival. Listen, I'm all for trying to limit obesity, but this crosses the line. You wanna give them a vegan option? Sure, be my guest. Forcing them to eat vegan? Criminal. I straight up don't think I could be a kid these days and that's not an exaggeration. School is already bad enough, but having already to wear a mask the entire day would drive me insane. Now 40% of the week's food is absolute garbage. I'm not sure how, but I bet Rob Manfred had something to do with this.
