Having To Bite My Tongue Knowing Marty Mush Was About To Get His Soul Ripped Out On Camera Was So Cruel

I joined the Bench Mob guys again this week to run through the world of college basketball. Needless to say I was in a good mood. Why? Oh, a specific reason.

Now to set the stage here, we were recording Sunday afternoon before football. Marty/Jake obviously in the office and I was in the Cincinnati office (the office in my house). I was well ahead of them time wise since they were streaming Providence/Marquette. Marty was on Providence -2 and then it happened. They get fouled up 2 with .7 to go. An 85% free throw shooter at the line, misses the first one and then intentionally misses the 2nd. You can see the look on my face when it happens. At that moment, Marty had no idea. The foul just happened for him. I had to sit there for a minute, biting my tongue wanting to yell out to Marty to look away. I couldn't. I couldn't take that moment away from content.

More importantly after that happened we got to talk college hoops. That got me giddy because this week is LOADED. It's the perfect slate every single day with the sport starting to become the go-to and bringing in casual fans. We have Chris Beard going back to Texas Tech tonight with Auburn/Alabama. We have Iowa State at home needing a win over Kansas without Agbaji. Even Davidson/Saint Bonaventure is a big A-10 game. Tomorrow we get Wisconsin/Illinois, Nova/Marquette and Notre Dame/Miami for a bubble type game. Thursday we get Arizona/UCLA part 2. Then on Saturday we have UNC/Duke, Kentucky/Alabama, Baylor/Kansas, Texas/Iowa State, Gonzaga/BYU, UConn/Nova and Illinois/Indiana. It's beautiful.

It's truly the best time of the year. Yeah, we have the Super Bowl and that obviously is the biggest thing. But this is the month in college basketball where more people are watching. We get ridiculous matchups every night and they matter 'more' now with the Tournament looming. We're starting to get a picture of who is title contenders, Final Four contenders, on the bubble, etc., and we can talk about them as such. I still think it's wide open with a good 7 or 8 teams that can actually win a title. It's way more 2020 (RIPIP Tournament) and 2014 than last year where it was destined to be Gonzaga/Baylor.

Again, you get an hour of 3 guys shooting the shit about college hoops with me trying to rile Jake up again to call Marty a moron. Not to mention an interview with Jim Larranaga to talk about Miami and his run at George Mason. Listen to it here.
