Nick Is Right, The Smell Of Opening A Fresh Pack Of Cards Is Unmatched
If you aren't listening to "The Bracket" you're missing out. It's a "Lights, Camera, Podcast" production and it's fantastic. Each week a new topic is debated bracket style until a winner is picked, it's the same game we've all played with our friends for years. People love debating things in bracket style, they always will. So when I saw this week's bracket of most iconic smells and I heard that it was Nick who nominated "Fresh pack of cards" I did a Tiger Woods fist pump. He's so right. If you haven't opened a pack of trading cards recently you're missing out. Whether it's baseball, football, NBA, Pokemon or whatever, that whiff you get when you open up the pack is unmatched. It can't be replicated so you won't find a "new pack of cards" smell at a Yankee Candle but the more I say it the more I want it. It's its own smell, it doesn't smell like anything else other than joy, hope, and excitement.
Fresh pack of cards went up in a play in game vs "fresh pack of tennis balls" and it took it down easily. No surprise either, when was the last time you opened a packet of tennis balls? Even if you play a decent amount of tennis, it's what, once every few weeks? The tennis ball can smell is great but lets be real, you don't smell it that often. That new pack of cards smell just lingers around and Nick was right, it smells like opportunity. You never know what you're going to get when you rip one open. So the smell mixed with the chance to get that super rare card you want, the things you feel when you crack open the pack is amazing. And if you haven't ripped open a pack recently, I highly suggest you go out and do it. Just the nostalgia alone will captivate you, but when you smell it, you know. I can't even describe the smell, but it 100% deserved to be on this bracket and make a run. Every smell on here earned it's place, I'm just happy that fresh pack of cards got a seat at the table. I will say I was very impressed that the 12 seed cards got the upset win over Home Depot/Lowes but like I said, if you've smelled the cards you know it is an elite smell.
And again, if you haven't listened to The Bracket you have to start. I get big "Fictional Debates" vibes from the crew and you'll find yourself debating yourself over what the best smell is or what the best "red" thing is. It's a fantastic listen every week.
