Soccer Star Christian Eriksen Says He Died On The Field For 5 Minutes Last Year, Still Plans On Playing In The World Cup

Pretty eye-opening and crazy interview here from Christian Eriksen. Remember, he passed out on the field during Denmark's first Euro 2020 match last summer.

He was saved by his teammate on the field and ultimately rushed to the hospital. But this is the first time I can remember truly hearing him speaking about what happened and he admits he died for five minutes. That's insane. Just an insane thing to say out loud. This is a guy who was playing at the top level and his heart issue caused him to die for five minutes while representing his country.

Now Denmark is in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and the man wants to play.

[The Sun] - "My goal is to play in the World Cup in Qatar. I want to play. That's been my mindset all along.

"It's a goal, it's a dream. Whether I'll be picked is another thing. But it's my dream to come back.

"I'm sure I can come back because I don't feel any different. Physically, I'm back in top shape. That's my goal and it's still some time away.

"So until then, I'm just going to play football and prove that I'm back at the same level."

I hope he's out there. Like I said Eriksen is an awesome player and Denmark is coming off a semifinals loss in the Euros. They can compete at the World Cup. Interview is worth watching and seeing him open up about everything is still just wild to hear. Here's hoping to a recovery and hoping he can play again.
