A 48 Year Old Mom Stole Her 22 Year Old Daughter's Identity So She Could Go to College and Date Young Guys

Source - A Missouri mama is facing jail time after she admitted to stealing her estranged daughter’s identity in order to secure student loans, enroll in college — and pursue her sexy co-ed fantasies.

Laura Oglesby, 48, posed as her daughter, Lauren Hays, for more than two years in an elaborate scam that fooled both the federal government and locals in the small town of Mountain View.

In 2016, Oglesby applied for a Social Security card in Hays’ name ... [then] assumed her daughter’s identity, saying her name was Lauren Hays and that she was only 22 years old.

The fraudster even started seducing unsuspecting men in their early 20s, who had no idea that Oglesby was almost two decades older than she said she was.

“Everyone believed it. She even had boyfriends that believed that she was that age: 22 years old,” Chief Jamie Perkins of the Mountain View Police Department told the New York Times.

I think I speak for all of us when I state the obvious:

Millions of families suffer every year!

But not the Oglesby/Hays family. I mean, it's one thing if you're stealing someone's Social Security information to steal money from them, run up charges on all their cards, drain their bank accounts and ruin their credit scores. It sounds like all Laura did here was use her daughter's identity to get some of that college D she hadn't had in decades. And that's a cause any daughter should be able to get behind.

Assuming she pays off the student loans, that's not stealing Lauren's identity as much as it's borrowing it. Taking it, using it for a while, and then returning it in the condition you found it. Like grabbing your neighbor's pick up in order to move some furniture. As long as bring it back with a full tank of gas and no scratches, where's the crime?

But that's burying the lede. The read story is how Laura Oglesby managed to pull this off. Rare is the person, woman or man, who at the age of 48 can pass as a 22-year-old. It's almost unheard of. For instance, Kate Beckinsale is 48. And even as one of the most stunningly well preserved women on the planet, I don't know that she could throw on a BTS tank top and a pair of yoga pants and pass herself off as someone who was born in 2000.

OK, maybe Beckinsale could. But if Lauren can breath that same rarefied air, how do you begrudge her? If could fool a campus full of Gen-Zs to the point she's banging frat boys - putting the "ogle" in Oglesby - then how do you charge her with a crime?

You should just be congratulating her for a job well done. And pinning a medal on her, on behalf of every parent with a college aged kid. Because don't think for a hot second every one of us signing those tuition checks doesn't, on some level, wish it was for us. That we could blow off work and responsibilities for the carefree four years we're providing for our kids. To go back to those days of drunken parties and commitment-free hookups and hedonistic debauchery. Even for just one weekend. Obviously this Silver Fox couldn't pull it off. So I'll content myself with living vicariously through Laura Oglesby. She's not a criminal. She's an American Hero. My Queen.
