The Mets Are Reportedly Finalizing A Deal To Hire Billy Eppler As GM

I want to get excited that the Mets have hired a general manager or upset that they hired someone that nobody seemed to want. But in the end, I'm just happy it's all (almost) over.

Yes a good chunk of me is absolutely TERRIFIED that a guy who helped waste the first half of Mike Trout's prime will have a chance to waste the 2nd half of Jacob deGrom's prime. However, I don't know how much of the shortcomings building a pitching staff, overpaying guys like Justin Upton, and just being completely irrelevant despite having the best player in baseball falls on Arte Moreno. Plus being the guy that landed Shohei Ohtani for peanuts has to count for something, right?

In the end, this is the only thing I care about when it comes to Billy Eppler.

Along with this tidbit from the wonderful people at theScore.

So if we are spinzoning things, this could all be a way for Uncle Stevie to circumvent the rules and get everything set up for his guy before he could land his guy because the Brewers wouldn't let Stearns interview with the Mets while under contract. Eppler also has plenty of experience spending money, which is nice and I cannot stress this part enough, this entire charade is thankfully reportedly close to being over.

After two years of waiting for the Wilpons to sell the team to Uncle Stevie, whatever you want to call this last year of shit, and potentially having to wait another year to land the stud President of Baseball Operations that grew up a Mets fans, I can't wait for this sentence in baseball purgatory to be over. But if this all comes together, the future will be so bright for Mets fans, we'll have to wear shades!

Bad Ass Billy Eppler has a nice ring to it, right?

Most importantly, please God don't let this guy be a creep or someone that will trade our best prospect for a washed up steroid user and a relief pitcher.
