The Xbox 360 Red Rings Of Death Gave Gamers Trauma For Decades To Follow

This image still haunts me. I get chills thinking about the red rings of death. It's a formidable moment in every nerd's gamer's life.

I'll never forget the day that my brother and I got the Xbox 360 red rings of death. We were playing Fable III (goated game) after school one day when suddenly the screen started turning green. And I mean like every 5 seconds, the screen would flicker fully green and then revert back. So, we decided to turn the console off and restart it. Instead of that normal magical Xbox 360 loading screen, the screen stayed black and we didn't know why.

We looked down and saw it. The 3 red rings of death.

There were a few different red rings of death you could get and it all depended on the combination of red rings shown on your console. We had three rings which meant hardware failure.

Now we tried to wrap the 360 in a towel, put it in rice and unplug/plug-in the console, but nothing worked. Our life as we knew it was over!

We had to ship our console to Seattle (I think) and receive it back 3-4 weeks later. It was the most boring 3-4 weeks of my life. To this day, seeing the image above gives me chills and quite frankly, I'll probably keep my light-up keyboard on tonight to double as a nightlight.

This whole blog and memory was made because of this one Halloween costume that I saw on the timeline and it's probably one of the most creative costumes out there.

Well done Medium Chungus. Well done.
