Is The Next Khabib Already In The UFC?

Over the weekend, Islam Makhachev picked up another incredibly dominant win in the UFC, this time over Thiago Moisés (not surprisingly, as he closed at like -700) bringing his overall record to 20-1 (9-1 in the UFC) and Coach Khabib's record to 5-0 this year....

If you watch a ton of mixed martial arts, you know he's a god damn force to be reckoned with; he's legitimately terrifying. Ali Abdelaziz actually put it well when he said while Khabib will take you to the ground and control you/smash you there, Islam takes you to the ground and just hunts for submissions til he finds one. You don't get a single break for air.

If you DON'T watch a lot of UFC, you may just recognize him from the infamous UFC 229 brawl, where he served as one of Khabib's cornermen and Conor McGregor's attackers….

Islam doesn't have the perfect record like Khabib due to a 2015 knockout loss to Adriano Martins - who is no longer in the UFC - but under Khabib's tutelage, it's hard to imagine him losing again any time soon….

Makhachev wants Michael Chandler next, and even called him out on the post-fight show to his face….

(He also mentioned Rafael dos Anjos/Tony Ferguson as possible opponents, the former being much more fitting in my opinion)

….but the ultimate goal? Islam wants a crack at Conor McGregor - who he says his business is not finished with.

Could we see Khabib's protégée take on his most bitter rival in a few years? We'll just have to wait and see.
