England Fans Celebrating Second Place While Not Realizing How Bad They Choked Away The Euros Isn't Even Sad, It's Just Pathetic

I don't mean to pile on England here, but I honestly can't help it at this point. I've seen WAY too much 'hey Italy is actually good and we didn't choke.' Uh, what? England was favored over Italy. England had a 1-0 lead 2 minutes into the match. England had a lead again in penalties after two rounds up 2-1. England was playing the game at Wembley. Fuck outta here with any of this we're just happy to make our first final at a major tournament since 1966. I almost, *ALMOST* felt the need to apologize to Indiana basketball for comparing the two, but then I remembered Indiana is still celebrating a regular season win so I simply can't. It's just pathetic from England.

Not to mention how many times did we hear 'it's coming home'? I'm setting the over/under at roughly a million times the past week. This was supposed to be the time everything changed for England yet it all stayed the same. They choked. Plain and simple. Plus, let's be honest here, it's fun as shit to make fun of England fans. They are as bad as hockey fans with the 'you can't like our sport. You call it soccer, not football' bullshit. I know that England decided to pack it in when they scored 2 minutes in yesterday. I know that they refused to step on Italy's throat and played scared for roughly 70+ minutes. I know that Jack Grealish agrees with me.

And then there's the knighting of Gareth Southgate. Uhh, excuse me? Kinda feel like you should only be knighted if you, you know, win something. Imagine trying to explain this to someone. Hey, yeah, we lost at home and everyone loved it so I'm a knight now! We sit here and make fun of the Colts for hanging an AFC Finalist banner, now imagine Andrew Luck being invited to the White House or some shit like that. We'd have a field day.

Celebrating second place after choking the match away as favorites? Sad day for a 'power' country in soccer, football, futbol, whatever you want to call it. Thanks for the memories is right though. I'll always remember Italy showing up. I'll always remember the Italy future cashing. I'll always remember England choking at home with the lead and being favorites.
