Fans At Wimbledon Shouted At Benoit Paire "You're Wasting Everybody's Time" As He Received a Violation For Not Trying At The End Of His Match

Over the last year Benoit Paire has become one of my favorite athletes to watch in the world. The man is literally in his own form of prison when he's forced to play tennis these days. In previous blogs I've touched on his quote about his mindset about constantly losing and not caring, "I arrive, take some money and go to the next tournament." Then he was kicked off the French Olympic team for his lack of effort. His response was to head right to the beach naturally.

Paire considers the covid bubbles a prison and doesn't understand why they have to do them. He's a showman in his mind and wants to perform in front of full crowds as well. As a result he doesn't give a shit right now and his record shows that. He's 3-23 in his last 26 matches and a lot of them aren't very close. Once a match is heading towards the end he really mails it in like here for example.

Well yesterday Benoit played in his first round match at Wimbledon against Diego Schwartzman. Diego could not be more opposite a player to Benoit as he always brings max effort and frequently produces long rallies. To Benoit's credit he actually tried for the first two sets in this one, even breaking Diego at one point in the 2nd set.

Still, Paire found himself trailing two sets to love late on Monday. The match was then suspended because of darkness (they don't have lights on outside courts) and forced to continue on Tuesday. Everything I just explained to you about Benoit, having to continue a match the next day after already being down two sets is maybe the last thing he wants to do. He threw this on IG right after play was cut short.

Caption translates to "this is really what I'm doing right now"

Today they resumed early and as you can expect Benoit wanted to be anywhere but on that court. He trailed 5-0 in the 3rd set down 0-30 after ripping two forehands directly into the net. He was as checked out as it gets and that caused the head chair umpire to issue him a code violation warning. That's when the fun started.

So we've got fans chanting "you're wasting everybody's time" while Benoit confronts the umpire and demands to see the trainer for no reason at all.

"I have pain."

This fucking guy is the best. What an asshole. Now to be fair, I thought the code violation warning from the head chair umpire was bullshit. We're two points away from going home, it's 5-0 0-30 this shit is over. Calling the trainer like that was so funny though.

How the tour hasn't suspended him is truly remarkable and hilarious. There's no professional athlete like this man in the world. I hope to god he makes it over to the states for the US Open in August. Full capacity crowd maybe no bubble, I need to see him in action with my own eyes.

He doesn't even have a sponsor anymore. The shirt he was wearing yesterday was one you can find in the Wimbledon gift shop! He claims he's making his own shirt that has cocktail glasses on it. I need that so badly if it ever comes out.

Anyways shout out to Benoit for the tank job. Cashed our parlay for the tournament with him being the last leg. Marton with the +170 upset over Sinner and Kudla coming back from the dead to beat Fokina.

Great start to the tourney. Going to try and have one of these every morning for you guys.
