Fresh Off His No-Hitter, Corey Kluber Exits Early With Tightness In His Shoulder That Sidelined Him For All But One Inning Last Year

Well that fucking sucks. Corey Kluber left tonight's game with tightness in his right shoulder. His command was off from the first inning, walking three batters and tallying 58 pitches through just three frames. The injury being the right shoulder is terrifying considering he was limited to just one total inning in 2020 after tearing a muscle in his right shoulder back in July. Shoulder injuries are obviously super reoccurring for pitchers no matter the surgery or rehab or caution you take with it. Not great Bob.

This all could be precautionary to pull him and get him the MRI, but we won't know the severity until sometime tomorrow. Kluber was coming off a no hitter in his last start in Texas and exited Tuesday's game with a 3.04 ERA to date. It would be brutal to lose an arm like his right now, especially with the team's reluctance to go over the luxury tax because Hal is a cheap bastard. Total gut punch.

The immediate option to replace him would be Deivi Garcia who is more than capable of stepping and producing, but Kluber's dominance of late was something to watch. Let's hope it was just the team being careful and the MRI comes back clean. For now just hold your breath. Kluber was worked his ass off to get back to this level of pitching, it would be such a shame to see it all go down like this. Just one time have the injury news be good.

Certainly doesn't help that Steven Matz is absolutely shoving right now on top of the injury. Not a fun night in the Bronx.
