LeVar Burton Has FINALLY Been Chosen To Guest Host Jeopardy

Variety- Following an uproarious social media push to have “Reading Rainbow” and “Star Trek” star LeVar Burton take the hosting podium on “Jeopardy!”, the actor has been announced as part of the final group of guest hosts who will round out the show’s 37th season in the wake of the death of beloved “Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek last November.

“Our goal has been to present a wide variety of guest hosts with different skill sets and backgrounds on our path to finding a permanent host,” said “Jeopardy!” executive producer Mike Richards. “Our passionate fans are telling us what they like, and we are listening. All of the guest hosts have brought individualism, energy and an authentic love of our show to each of their episodes. We look forward to sharing the rest of the season with our viewers.” In the minds of many fans, Burton is the frontrunner to step into Trebek’s role, with a Change.org petition garnering over 246,000 signatures.

Look at the nerds over at Jeopardy finally choosing one of the most obvious choices of who should be given a shot at taking the wagon that Trebek built for a test spin as guest host. And it only took them four months to do so! That's like a normal(ish) person like me picking Shakespeare and Biology questions with Sports for $200 just sitting there.

Now I don't know if LeVar Burton will be the perfect Jeopardy host or even a good one. But he sure as shit feels like someone who deserves a shot, with a quarter million Jeopardy viewers who have enough free time on their hands to sign a petition about something like this agreeing with me. I can understand a Jeopardy legend like Ken Jennings being sent to lead off in a post-Trebek world and even get giving Aaron Rodgers the nod during the offseason since he's an A-List sports celebrity that was also pals like Trebek. But I'll never understand how Dr. fucking Oz got the green light before LeVar Burton or Jeff D. Lowe (throw an extra vote or 10 to Team Ziti if you are reading this, Jeff).

Whatever. What's done is done. Best of luck to LeVar not only because I think he'll crush it but because I love throwing this song at the end of my blogs.
