In Case The Eagles QB Situation Wasn't Toxic Enough Before, Nick Sirianni Is Declining To Call Jalen Hurts QB1 Already

I mean…I get what Nick Sirianni is doing here. But it would just come off a helluva lot better if he didn't seem like such a dork who is cosplaying as an NFL head coach right now. Nick Sirianni seems like a guy who is perfect to coach high school football. The kinda guy who just busts out all the cliches you could ever need to lead a high school team to a district championship. The kind of guy who constantly brings up the fact that "nobody outside of this locker room believes in us" even if he literally has zero evidence to support that claim. So I get where Nick Sirianni is coming from in thinking that having a competition for the starting role is going to bring out the best in everybody. A rising tide floats all ships, that sorta bullshit.

These are grown ass men. These are the best football players in the world. By all accounts of what we've seen and heard so far this offseason, Jalen Hurts has been putting in an insane amount of work. The Eagles traded back out of the 6th overall pick because clearly they're not taking a quarterback in the 1st round. Sure, they brought in Joe Flacco over the offseason but just because Jalen needs a good, cheap, reliable vet who can mentor him through the early stages of his NFL career. So the whole "open competition" nonsense? It just comes off like Nick Sirianni is a guy who should be coaching on Friday nights, and I don't know if there's a single soul on this Eagles roster who won't see right through that.

And it's only April 21. There's never in the history of the world been something that has been said on April 21 in a press conference that has had any legitimate impact on the following NFL season. So it's not like we should even care about anything that Nick Sirianni has to say today. The actual content of what he's saying is irrelevant. But it just goes to show who he seems to be. It's hard to really judge the guy before he's had the chance to actually be a head coach in the NFL. But somehow every time this dude opens his mouth, he seems less and less qualified for the role. Like what the fuck is this?

I would love Nick Sirianni so much if he wasn't the head coach of my favorite football team. He's a hilarious character. But the Eagles were already the joke of the league last year. I don't know how much more of this I can take.
