The Boomers Were Furious That UCF Put Their Players @'s On Their Jerseys Instead Of Their Names
Not that you're necessarily in college football mode at the moment, but the CFB world was dominated by a singular tweet this past weekend from UCF.
My first reaction was simple....this is lame, but then I stopped myself. Was I being lame? Yes, I was, because if the players liked it then who gives a shit? I think the font of the @'s made it a bit off-putting to me, but ultimately I got over that and came to the realization that these were cool. Plus, this is a spring game. You're supposed to have fun in a spring game. Hell, 7 years ago today Bo Pelini walked onto the field with a cat:
Baack to UCF....you won't believe this, but a lot of Twitter users were not happy with UCF's spring game jerseys. Dumb? Yes. Surprising? No.
Here's the thing, though…they worked:
Not a bad result for a silly little thing to do during a spring game.
A lot of people were calling this move by UCF innovative and whatnot. It was certainly innovative, but that high level of praise was a bit too much. They put the @'s on the back of their jerseys, they didn't change how the game of football was played. It will be interesting to see if they do it during the season.
P.s. it is ironic that YouTube star Deestroying had to quit playing for UCF because the NCAA wouldn't let him make money off of his YouTube channel. Of course, that wasn't UCF's fault, but you get the idea.
