I Can't Stop Watching Anthony Santander's Throw To End The Orioles-Yankees Game Last Night

What a game we had in the Bronx last night as the Orioles were able to snap a twelve (12) game losing streak to the Yankees in New York. Just an insane number of games to lose in a row in one place, I legit thought they'd never win in New York again. That place is a god damn house of horrors for the Birds and they were finally able to win one in that sandbox of a ballpark. Maybe the most exciting game of the year so far, definitely the most exciting Orioles game I can remember in some time.

The Birds got homers from Cedric Mullins who is hotter than the sun right now, and Anthony Santander to give a nice 2-1 lead to John Means. Means wasn't as sharp as his first start but he still got the job done. Struck out 4 and scattered 7 hits but limited the Yankees and that dangerous lineup. Tough sledding but he did just enough to keep them in check.

Yankees were able to tie it up at 2 in the 8th and eventually send it to extras where both teams scored in the 10th. Orioles got a run in the 11th and it looked like the Yankees were on their way to tying it again. Brett Gardner moved Gio Urshela over to third with a sac bunt and that brought up DJ LeMahieu. DJ slapped one into right field, not too deep at all. It got on Santander quick too. He makes the catch and fires an absolute ROCKET home. 250 foot seed. I get why they sent Urshela but man was that a bad move. He was gunned by a good 10 feet. And to make matters worse for Gio, Severino smacked the shit out of him with the glove, right in the face too. That couldn't have felt good at all. Absolutely gunned him at the plate for your average right field to catcher double play to end the game. Talk about a play that gets the juices flowing.

Orioles yank a win out from the jaws of defeat and do something they haven't done since 2019, win in Yankee stadium. A hell of a game and a hell of a play Anthony Santander to secure the win. 4-2 and the Birds open Camden Yards today with Boston coming to town, I wouldn't hate another sweep.
