It Never Ends: Luke Voit Tore His Meniscus And Will Be Out For At Least The First Month Of The Season

IT. NEVER. ENDS. Sadness. We were only a few days away from Opening Day and pretty much zero injuries to the offensive side of the ball. Nope! Fuck you, Eric. Luke Voit tore his meniscus and will sidelined for what looks like around a month and a half. Awesome. Super. Just fucking shoot me.

Luke Voit is the heart and soul of this team. He led the league in homers last year while playing on one foot for crying out loud. Dude's a warrior and a guy you love to have on your team. He's also an awesome fella overall who makes Yankee haters question themselves. Now I'm going to be without this guy until at least some point in May. Jay Bruce is my starting 1st baseman. 33 year old (seemingly 50 years old) JAY BRUCE. Reports yesterday had him opting out of his deal with the Yanks and looking elsewhere for work. Next thing you know Luke gets the MRI and the plan flips on its head. Crazy. Sure he'll probably do fine with his lefty swing and the short porch in right, but man no Luke Voit to start the season is an immediate gut punch. That's not the news I needed to start my Saturday. Now is it a major injury? No, I feel like meniscus injuries are less severe on the surgery scale of things, but missing a month + isn't ideal. Fuck. I wonder if tagging up a few weeks ago is what did him in.

In other news, I'm very happy Mike Tauchman made this team. Dude busted his ass this spring to crack this roster as he was left without options to the minors. 2020 was a fluke, I'm excited for the Sock Man to have a fresh start and help this team win ball games.
