Tony Hawk Getting Emotional After Landing A Trick For His Last Time Has Me Emotional

Why am I crying in the club right now? I'm not actually in a club, but if I was in a club, I'd be crying. Mostly because of the fact I'm in a club and hate clubs (besides Encore Beach Club where you can play blackjack outside around the pool), but also because that was a highly emotional video of Tony Hawk landing a trick for the final time. Tony Hawk has been in our lives forever. From skating to the video games to just always popping up at the right time to spread his Tony Hawk cheer, he's a guy I wish we could hit the pause button on and keep around forever. Tony Hawk is sorta like Hue Hefner in that slice of Americana type of way. Maybe Hef isn't the greatest example, he's just the first guy who came to mind who changed the world and is greatly missed. So yeah, maybe it does work. I just hate that Tony Hawk is getting old, that's my point.

Here's just a little info about me: I have such fond memories of growing up watching the X Games. For me it was Travis Pastrana, Dave Mirra (RIP), Mat Hoffman, and Tony Hawk. When those guys were on the TV, my eyes were glued to the screen. Man, now I'm just reading names of other X Games legends like Ryan Nyquist, Andy MacDonald, Bob Burnquist, Carey Hart (remember when he landed the first backflip?!?! I didn't sleep for a week, I was so stunned.), and so many others. I used to be lowkey obsessed with freestyle Moto X, watching the evolution of the sport was incredible, though I do think the backflip did kinda hurt it for a bit, I preferred when guys had to be super creative with their tricks, but then the first ever body varial blew my dick straight off.

I don't watch as much X Games anymore, but I certainly still enjoy the sports and the athletes who put their bodies through such hell to entertain us. Love you Tony Hawk.

PS: Did people listen to this song growing up?

Classic.
