Idris Elba Is Riding Horses Through Philly In The First Trailer For 'Concrete Cowboy'

"The film is about a 15-year-old boy from Detroit who is sent to live with his estranged father in Philadelphia and learns about the local urban cowboys."

If you, like me, are on the internet way too much, then you have probably seen a video of "Urban Cowboys" before. Usually in the forms of vines or short form videos of someone riding a horse through city streets while everyone looks on confused as shit. The specific organization this is based off of, The Fletcher Street Urban Riding Club, isn't something I was aware of before watching the trailer, but it seems cool as all hell. A non-profit that helps young people focus on academics while spending free time outdoors? Its like the Cow-Boy Scouts.

This movie looks like it uses that concept as a base to tell a family story with a ton of heart. Maybe a little bit overplayed, but even the most overplayed concepts can be done in a fresh way. The big draw is obviously the handsome king himself, Idris Elba. He is so effortlessly charming in every role he ever does, so I imagine playing a dad should give us a warm bubbly feeling inside. Caleb McLaughlin is obviously another familiar face for those of you familiar with 'Stranger Things'. This is obviously a much different kind of role, so we'll see what he can do.

This is director Ricky Staub's first feature length movie, but Lee Daniels is also involved as a producer and he has a solid track record and is a Philly Native.
