Cody Bellinger Is Retiring.....From Doing Forearm Bumps After Dislocating His Shoulder Celebrating A HR In The NLCS, Vows To Only Handshake For The Rest Of His Career

Big news out of Dodgers camp as Cody Bellinger says he is retiring the forearm bump as a way to celebrate home runs. You may remember him hitting a massive home in Game 7 of the NLCS vs the Braves. He touches home, begins to celebrate with Kiké Hernández by doing his forearm bash celebration. You can't really tell but it actually dislocated his shoulder. Obviously he was able to play after it was popped back in, but you could tell he wasn't feeling great. He got it surgically repaired in the offseason so that should tell you the extent of the damage, all from a forearm bump. So what does he do? Comes out in Spring Training and lets the world know he's a handshake guy for the rest of his career.

Now a handshake isn't the most ideal celebration in this pandemic world we live in, at least bring the hand sanitizer, Cody. I know they did the toe tap last year, maybe a elbow bump would be better? I've always been a fan of the shoulder bump too. Juan Toribio was at Dodges camp and got this quote from Cody about his plans for future celebrations.

“Never again,” Bellinger said, with a smile. “I will be a handshake guy for the rest of my career, that’s for sure. I’m done with that.”

There you have it. He's leaving the shoulder and forearm bump in the past and we're on to handshakes for the rest of Cody's athletic life. If I was a betting man I'd guess we see anywhere between 35-40 handshake celebrations from Cody and his Dodger teammates this season.

PS. What a rough Spring Training pic for Cody. Wake up why don't ya?
