Tim Tebow Gets Invited To Mets' Spring Training Again Which Is Complete And Total BULLSHIT

This is one of my biggest issues on earth today. Not right vs. left, red vs. blue, Israel vs. Palestine, me vs. Gum... It's me vs. the Mets continually inviting Tim Tebow to big league spring training year after year. Is it THAT big of a deal? No, not really at all. But that doesn't mean I won't drag my petty war out until my death if I need to. It's just disgusting to me that Tim Tebow, one of the very worst professional baseball players on earth, gets to keep getting a crack at this "dream"

And that's where I'll start. I put "dream" in quotation marks because I think it's a bunch of bullshit. A dream is something you spend an entire lifetime working towards. Here and there one might accomplish or live out their dream, but most often they won't... but every waking breath and goal is set towards accomplishing that dream. Tim Tebow decided it was his "dream" to play Major League Baseball after his professional football career failed. If playing baseball at the highest level possible was his dream, he would have worked his dick off to be great at it, and ya know what? Maybe he could have been. But he chose to play football at Florida and then bounced around in the NFL for a while before deciding "yeah actually it's BASEBALL that's my dream, not football"

Maybe it was this pass where he realized, "yeah I ain't cut out for being an NFL QB":

or maybe it was Jay Feely saying this about Tebow in an interview with Jim Rome:

"He's such a dichotomy for me. Because I really respect the person, the man, the things that he believes in and the things he does off the field," Feely said. "He was the single-worst quarterback I ever saw in my career in the NFL. I watched him one day ... I sat and watched him do routes on air with Ken Whisenhunt as we were playing the Broncos," Feely said. "And routes on air, there's no [defensive backs], you know exactly what he's going to run, there's no pass rush. He had like 13 incompletions on routes on air. Jim, you and I could go out and do routes on air and we would complete most of our passes."

Whatever though. It's not his fault he was taken in the 1st round when anyone with a brain new he wasn't a real NFL QB.

But he was handed a contract to play pro ball with the Mets for no reason other than he was a good system QB under Urban Meyer at Florida. Okay, fine. Give him a shot. He's a monster of a human and has flashed above average raw power. Maybe, just MAYBE, the Mets could have taught him an approach to hitting, angles in the OF, and other general baseball fundamentals. But... nope. That didn't happen. Not even CLOSE.

Here are his stats in the last season he played, 2019:

77 games, 239 plate appearances, 39 hits, .163/.240/.255/.495 OPS with 4 dingers.

To put that into perspective, it would have qualified as the worst season in MLB history in terms of WAR for a player with >200 plate appearances:

But he did this in the Internationally League which is well renown for being a hitter's league almost top to bottom. Disgusting! Why in the fuck does he keep getting shots in his now age 34 season!!! There are people that ACTUALLY dream of playing MLB that can't because of finances. But the Mets gave Tebow $100K to sign with them. Not like he's out there throwing up horrific slash lines for free. You think other guys could use that money? Yep, yep they could. Just ask Kaleb Earls:

It's so so so gross and if we're being frank, it makes me question my alliance with the Mets as SonsOfUribe. At this point of the blog you might be asking yourself, "But WSD who gives a shit, it's one spot on the Mets roster!" and you'd be correct. I'm a petty fucking asshole. It is just one of those things that annoys me to no end and all of the "but he's chasing his dream!" and "he works really hard!" shit drives me crazy. Lots of people are doing that but Tebow keeps getting crack after crack after crack and to me, that's bullshit considering he's done nothing to, ya know, earn those cracks.

~FIN~

PS - it's not fin quite yet actually, don't tell me he's selling tickets to Rochester games. We don't even know if there will be an MiLB season or fans at those games yet I don't think. He can't sell tickets if tickets aren't allowed to be sold. Fuck outta my face with that.
