The State Of Florida Said, "Fuck It, We'll Take The Olympics This Summer If You Don't Want Them"

The Hill - Florida is offering to host the 2021 Summer Olympics amid speculation that Tokyo may back out of the Games due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In a Monday letter to the International Olympic Committee, Florida's chief financial officer, Jimmy Patronis, laid out the state's case for hosting the Games.

“Today, I am writing to encourage you to consider relocating the 2021 Olympics from Tokyo, Japan to the United States of America, and more specifically to Florida,” Patronis wrote.

As each day passes by, it's starting to look more and more like the 2021 Summer Olympics will not take place this summer in Tokyo. It's a shame for these athletes who have prepared their entire lives for this moment. Who have trained and sacrificed so much to get to the point where they can represent their country on the world's biggest stage. And with the shelf life some of these athletes have for being the best in the world, they may never get this opportunity again if the games end up being cancelled all together.

So just as they always do, the state of Florida has stepped up to save the world. The state of Florida is basically Batman. They see an injustice in the world and they don't stop until they restore order. You may not personally care for them. They may seem a little reckless at times. But that doesn't change the fact that they get the job done.

And if you think about it, Florida is the sports capital of the world right now. The Tampa Bay Lightning are the reigning Stanley Cup Champions. The Tampa Bay Rays just played for the 2020 World Series. Florida hosted the 2020 NBA Playoff Bubble, and the Miami Heat played in the Finals. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are not only hosting Super Bowl LV coming up in a couple of Sundays from now, but they have become the first NFL team ever to play for a Super Bowl in their home stadium. A team from Florida has played for the championship in all 4 of the major sports. And oh yeah, and Mac Jones is also from Florida.

So if the biggest international sporting event in the world is in jeopardy, why not allow the sports capital of the world to step up and save it? Tokyo doesn't want to host the 2021 Summer Olympics anymore? No big deal. Just means Team USA won't have to travel as far to rack up dozens upon dozens of gold medals this summer.
