Jake Paul Announces His Next Fight VS 36-Year-Old Retired MMA Fighter Ben Askren

I know Bob Fox is going to do a full breakdown and preview, but here are my initial thoughts from a purely entertainment standpoint...BORING. Boring, boring, boring, boring. The last time we saw Ben Askrin he was literally getting knocked out with a flying knee...

He's also not a boxer, he's a wrestler. Which I guess doesn't matter considering the last guy Jake fought was a NBA player, but still, I can't imagine this fight being anywhere near as entertaining as his last.

Here's what Jake had to say about the match up on Instagram...

It’s official :) Representing the UFC Mr. Napoleon Dynamite look-alike @benaskren finally accepted the fight. He is a two-time NCAA champion, a world champion in two different global mixed martial arts organizations and has less losses on his record than Conor Mcgregor, yet, I’m still going to knock him out faster than Masvidal did… Some MMA guys think because they throw punches they know how to box. I shocked the world when I knockout an NBA superstar athlete, but some people still complained that he’s not a real fighter… So now I’m giving the people what they want by taking on a real fighter… After I add Ben to my knockout meme collection, what can anybody say? @triller Fight Club. April 17th. 82 days. The countdown starts now. Be ready.

I love this shit talk and I'm going to watch, I'm just unsure if non-boxing fans being motivated enough to do the same. Ben Askren isn't a social media star, he's not a NBA player, to the average person he's a largely unknown dude. That said, Jake Paul moves the needle so there's a chance the numbers will be huge. I hope the paycheck is the same. Snoop Dogg will also be on the call so there's always that. #GoJakeGo. Can't wait for April 17th.
