A Man In Texas Underwent Limb-Lengthening Surgery So He Could Go From 5'11" To 6'1" And Be Better At Basketball

Daily Mail- A man has undergone cosmetic limb-lengthening surgery to increase his height from 5ft 11 to 6ft 1 to be more like the basketball heroes he grew up with. Alfonso Flores, 28, from Dallas, Texas, said that he had wanted to be taller from the age of 12 but his family and friends had all warned him against the 'unnecessary' treatment. The freelance writer and pre-med student persevered with the surgery under the care of Harvard-trained orthopedic surgeon Dr Kevin Debiparshad of The LimbplastX Institute in Las Vegas.

Biiiiiig win for all the Shorts out there today. It seems like forever that we've had plastic surgery that gave you bigger tits, a bigger dick, or bigger lips. But this is the first time I've ever heard of being able to have bigger legs. It felt like if you were unhappy that you were short, you were fucked. However, that doesn't have to be the case as long as you aren't short AND poor.

Dr Debiparshad's website states that the surgeries start at $75,000 for a femur-lengthening procedure - which is what Alfonso had done - and go up to $84,000 for a tibia-lengthening surgery, however patients may also opt for add-ons that can raise the price to around $94,000.

75 grand seems like a pretty hefty fee to pay for a few inches. However as someone that recently thought he was downgraded from being a 6 footer to a 5-11 footer because I slouched at my last physical, I fully understand why people would throw down thousands of dollars to have a 6 in the height portion of their drivers license. The fee may not be cheap but you can instantly make that money back if you go from a fringe NBA prospect whose biggest weakness is Height to a first rounder thanks to a couple of inches from Dr. Debiparshad. Or if you are resigned to the cubes, it looks like a few extra inches on the ruler could lead to a few extra dollars in the bank account.

It's not all sunshine and rainbows though, as limb lengthening surgery can end up costing more than 100 grand when you pay to adjusts glasses have the NAILS removed from your legs.

Between one and two years after the surgery has taken place, patients then have to fork out an additional fee to have the nails removed from their legs, a procedure that costs between $14,000 and $20,000, which would bring the total cost of the limb-lengthening to between $89,000 and $114,000.

I'm not sure why I thought being able to add a few inches to someone's human would come without a bit of a physical sacrifice like nails having to be inserted then removed in your body. But if you want to go to Vegas in order to chase those hoop dreams because #BallIsLife or get that paper over the 5 footer ankle biters in your office, there's nothing stopping you outside of a few bucks and nails. After all, there's a reason why recording artist Skee-Lo appeared in the Billboard Top 20 once upon a time with an all-time great one hit wonder.
