You Are Going To Be Hearing Olivia Rodrigo's Breakup Song "Drivers License" For The Rest Of Your Life

"Kelly what is this, are you drunk? We don't care about this Disney channel girl" NOT SO FAST SIR OR MADAM! You SHOULD care about this 17 year old (!) who put out a breakup song one week ago, and has blown every single streaming stat out of the water. It wasn't even on terrestrial radio until 7 days after its debut (this past Friday).

"Damn sis, okay, teach us Queen!" Ok, ok. I'll tell you about her. Olivia Rodrigo is an actress/singer on the Disney+ show "High School Musical The Musical The Series." It's a super campy musical show, based on the kids who currently go to school inside the high school that they filmed High School Musical in. They decide to put on a musical. So…it's a musical, inside a show, about High School Musical. It's overly complicated, but the show is actually great. It's kind of like The Office and Saved By The Bell mixed together, with music. And all of the stars are actually amazing singer/songwriters in real life.

Olivia plays Nina (the Gabriella character) and her love interest in the show, played by Joshua Bassett (age 20), is called Ricky. He's also Troy. They fall in love on the show. BUT WAIT! IT GETS MORE COMPLICATED!

THEY STARTED DATING IN REAL LIFE! NOOOOOOOO!!! Olivia sweetie you're going to get your heart broken!!! And, that she did. Enter: drivers license (all lowercase.)

Joshua Barrett (BOOOOOOOO) broke up with Olivia bc she was too young for him. (True.) But, of course, he immediately started dating someone new (Sabrina Carpenter, also a Disney channel star/singer if you don't know her, more age appropriate.) So, Olivia was crushed. She wrote this song, put it out, and I've never seen a song blow up like this before. It started going viral on Tiktok, which, if you want to get streams, going viral on Tiktok is the way to do it. People are calling it THE WORLD'S BREAKUP. It's for all of us!!! We all cry in our cars while we drive through the suburbs missing our exes!!!!! Even if we don't actually miss them!!! Just for dramatic effect!!!! The best part about the song is that its so CLEARLY pointed at Josh and Sabrina. She basically does everything but say their names. Le Scandale!

But yea so, this is the hottest song in the world right now. Globally. I'm not even exaggerating. It had 13 million streams in one day on Spotify alone. That's fucking insane. Also, it's a GREAT SONG. Pretty infectious, in fact.

Have a great time crying to it!!!

Oh wait, I almost forgot LOL - so, Joshua ALSO put out a song a week later. He says its "not about Olivia and that he wrote it about a friend two years ago" but the timing is laugh out loud funny. And it SUCKS too. #TEAMOLIVIA
