Gotta Love Bills Fans. NY Governor Cuomo Planned To Attend This Weekend's Home Playoff Game, Buffalo's First In 25 Years, But 40,000 Fans Signed Petition Telling Him To Stay Home. So Now He Is.

NY Post- Gov. Cuomo will be skipping the Buffalo Bills’ playoff game this weekend after all — following uproar and a 40,000-signature strong online petition over his planned attendance.

Instead, Cuomo said on Wednesday that he’s giving his ticket away.

“I’m going to give my Bills ticket to a nurse from Erie County Medical Center as a way of saying thank you and honoring all healthcare heroes,” the governor said at a press briefing.

He didn’t identify the lucky fan, who will be one of 6,700 people allowed into Bills Stadium on Saturday afternoon for the squad’s first home playoff game since 1996.

“I’ll be here working on the State of the State which will be a labor of love,” Cuomo added of his annual address scheduled for Monday.

Fury among Bills fans exploded after Cuomo announced a limited crowd would be let into the stadium for the historic matchup against the Indianapolis Colts — including himself.

A Change.org petition calling for a ban on Cuomo at Bills Stadium has received more than 40,300 signatures as of Wednesday morning.

“If he thinks he has more right to a seat in that stadium over people who have waited over 20 years for this opportunity, then people better be there to protest his entry,” the petition reads. “This is OUR team! This is OUR home. We don’t want you here.”

I haven't seen a message this clear sent by a collective of people against an Italian man since N.I.N.A. Signs were hanging in store front windows. (yah I know everybody thinks it was only "No Irish Need Apply" but Italian immigrants had it pretty brutal too. Especially in Buffalo.)

God the Bills are growing on me and I fuckin hate it.

I keep trying to tell myself this year is fluke (covid*) and that things will be right with The Force next year once BB gets New England back on track. But my brain tells me Josh Allen is the real deal, and that defense comes to play. Throw in the best young coach in the game down in Miami in Brian Flores and the AFC East is going to be a dog fight for the foreseeable future.

But I digress.

Bills fans taking to Change.org and clocking 40,000 signatures telling Cuomo "This is our team, our home, we don't want you here" in two and a half days is hilarious.

Ever gone to a party or event you weren't invited to or wanted at?

Absolutely nothing worse.

You can feel every eyeball on you. You can hear the whispers. All the introductions are cold. Records screech to a stop with every room you walk into.

You're left with two choices-

You either throw all consciousness to the wind and get blackout drunk and shoot for the stars- trying to become the life of the party and turn everybody. Or you fail miserably and get asked to leave, or carried out.

You cannot go there and try to carry on politely and calmly. You do that and every second you're there you're on edge, and people are weird. The second you leave you've got every person there yelling "who the fuck let that guy/girl come here?".

Go big or go home.

Respect for Governor Cuomo knowing where he wasn't welcome and not making things super awkward for himself and Ralph Wilson Stadium this Saturday.
