Brandon Walker Just Made His Official Statement On The Captain Cons/Trivia Cheating Scandal

Well, shit.

Giphy Images.

For those unaware or maybe not big into Twitter, Captain Cons routinely rates people's charcuterie boards on Twitter. This was a pretty clean shot for Brandon, pulling no punches, or being vague like he was a few days ago…

This all stems from their latest trivia match on The Dozen (thanks to all who have tuned in, by the way), in which many people feel as though Captain Cons cheated…

As commissioner/host/producer of The Dozen: Trivia Competition, I have taken a ton of heat following this fiasco. I initially came to Cons defense because I didn't really think he cheated, and people were (and are) not happy with me.

First off, it's hard to truly confirm anyone cheated in this show. You can cite the lighting, the computer moving, people's eyes, but that isn't conclusive evidence. We saw this with Frank the Tank, everyone accused him of cheating, then we made him sit far away from his computer, and he proceeded to blow the fucking doors off of Brandon & PFT. Would Cons really cheat on only steals and not his own questions? Maybe, I guess it's possible. But I will always give the players the benefit of the doubt, which is a potential flaw as commissioner that I accept.

Secondly, Brandon (and sometimes PFT) has accused so many fucking people of cheating that it has become a "boy who cried wolf" situation for the Mississippi man (please note, I am not mad at Brandon and he is a vital part of this show and I owe him a lot for his commitment to the show). First, we had Smitty, a fiasco that sort of just died off, then we had White Sox Dave, who has performed well even with sanctions, and recently we had Frank the Tank, who might have been an even stronger player with sanctions. Everyone accused of cheating enough to receive sanctions has made me question the legitimacy of the accusations. On top of that, if I banned every person accused of cheating, especially by the YouTube chat, a dedicated fanbase that hates me and trusts no one who plays the game, we'd lose half of our teams.

Here's the issue, whether Cons cheated, or not, he did himself no favors in this match. He should've had his hands up the entire time, and sat away from his computer. Part of that is my fault, after going through the Smitty, White Sox Dave, & Frank the Tank fiascos, but it is what it is at this point. But we did sort of walk into this situation on our own.

Because of all of this, so long as Brandon agrees to face him again, Captain Cons will be required to sit away from his computer, showing his hands at all times during their next match. This is a good team too, they don't even really need to cheat, in my opinion, to beat Brandon & PFT.

Now the question will be this: will Brandon agree to play him again?

Is this the first really great one-on-one The Dozen rivalry?

Again, I understand people are angry, they want integrity and honesty with The Dozen, and I appreciate the fierce passion from our fans. Without the fans, The Dozen is nothing.

We have done 70 episodes up to this point, and with a tournament on the horizon, and some new teams (Kirk Minihane makes his debut in 2021), there is only more room for drama and craziness.
