Minnesota Hockey Desperately Needs To Stop Letting Michigan Score Ridiculous Highlight Goals Against Them

This goal from Michigan's Kent Johnson last night was filthy. It was disgusting. It was grotesque. It was a preposterously large bowl of backhand sauce perfectly tucked away right under the crossbar.

Inside. Outside. Backhand. Kiss the bar. Celly. Repeat.

Now here's the thing about this--Minnesota ended up winning the game. But does anybody care? Will anybody remember that fact? Absolutely not. The only thing that people care about is this ridiculously nasty backhander unleashed by Kent Johnson. And a Minnesota goalie getting dunked on by a Michigan forward is something that we're just all too familiar with at this point. Mainly thanks to this little bit of razzle dazzle from 24 years ago.

It's just that if I were the Minnesota Golden Gophers, I'd simply stop allowing this sort of thing to happen. Can't be logging premium screen time on the Michigan end-of-the-year highlight package. Just something to think about. I know that Bob Motzko is a helluva coach. I know that he's led Team USA to a gold medal at the World Juniors. So I don't want to tell him how to do his job or anything like that. But again, I'd stop running the play where they let Michigan score aggressively nasty goals against them from here on out.
