Aubrey Plaza And Jason Statham Are Teaming Up For A Guy Ritchie Thriller

Following her scene-stealing role in the romantic comedy Happiest Season, Aubrey Plaza is switching genres as she is set to co-star Jason Statham in the Guy Ritchie untitled thriller formally known as Five Eyes. Miramax is producing and financing with STX handling distribution.

As a huge fan of all three of these names, I love this news. Statham may be 53, but he will be doing action thrillers and crime-comedy movies until he is in the grave. Anything he does with frequent collaborator and crime-comedy god, Guy Ritchie, is also immediately must-watch.

Man, I love him and Stephen Graham(The best on-screen Al Capone actor better btw). Anyway, adding Aubrey Plaza to this mix makes it all the more interesting. I think a lot of people pin her as April Ludgate, but she has been funny and sharp across a bunch of different projects. Besides the oscar-nominated "Mike & Dave Need Wedding Dates", she was fantastic in "Ingrid Goes West". She also co-stared with Grumpy Cat (Rest in hell) in the grumpy cat movie. Here is what "Five Eyes" will be all about:

The story follows MI6 guns-and-steel agent (Statham) who is recruited by a global intelligence alliance to track down and stop the sale of a deadly new weapons technology that threatens to disrupt the world order. Reluctantly paired with CIA high-tech expert, Fortune sets off on a globe-trotting mission where he will have to use all of his charm, ingenuity and stealth to track down and infiltrate billionaire arms broker.

Does it seem a little cookie-cutter? Maybe, but Ritchie rarely misses. The writers of his last movie "The Gentleman", are behind this as well. That movie was one of my favorite of this year, so I have high hopes.
