It Appears The Rays Are Doing Rays Things And Making It Known Blake Snell Is Available In A Trade

Well, well, well, look what we have here. The Rays taking a pitcher that they drafted, turned him into a Cy Young stud, all star, and are now looking to flip him with years left on his deal. This is what the Rays do, and it's not a bad thing. They recognize when they can flip a player and get assets back for him. They did it with David Price, they did it with James Shields, they did it with Chris Archer, it's unreal how they do it every few years. Blake Snell is a damn good pitcher and I'm sure there are 29 other teams out there that would love to have a guy like him toe their rubber every five days.

Not like he has an insane contract either, 3 years and $39 million left on his deal, which is most certainly doable for a team who needs to add a guy to their rotation. Gotta think teams like the Mets, Angels, Mariners, and Braves will all be in consideration for the guy we last saw getting yanked off the mound wayyyyyyy too soon in the deciding game of the World Series. Snell is from Seattle and the Rays and Mariners legit love making trades, that may be the destination that Snell wants to go to. They also have plenty of bullets in their farm system to send over to Tampa.

Like I said above, it's typical Rays. They're trying to shed payroll and will re-tool for another postseason run, and do it with an even more loaded farm system. Don't forget they have arguably the top MLB prospect in Wander Franco making his debut sometime in 2021. This is what they do, and it seems to work for them. Snell could bring back an absolute haul. A 27-year old lefty who has won a Cy Young and had a spectacular year last year? Yeah, some team would love to ship a bunch of prospects to Tampa for that.
