Deadpool 3 Is Officially In The Works With Marvel Studios

As Disney continues to figure out what to do with Fox properties they acquired in the merger, one of the biggest IPs, Deadpool, looks to be gaining momentum. Sources tell Deadline that Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin to write Deadpool 3 with Reynolds set to reprise his role as wise-cracking superhero.

This marks the first Deadpool film where Marvel studios will work hand and hand with Reynolds and team Deadpool. Fans are sure to be excited at Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige’s involvement after seeing how he helped revamp the Spider-Man franchise after coming on to help in the creative effort of that franchise.

Besides Reynolds return, there is so many factors being worked out that include tone seeing that the previous two films were rated R and Disney’s Marvel films have been firm that they don’t want their films to have an R rating.

In case you're unfamiliar with the Molyneux sisters, they're the writers behind 'Bob's Burgers'. I never quite got into the show, but my understanding just through interacting with people on social is that their following is die-hard.

The big question with this is the same as it has been since the acquisition: How does Disney-Marvel handle something like Deadpool? What makes the character great and refreshing is that he is a departure from the classic superhero model. He's irreverent, foul and R-rated. There just isn't a world where you can make this movie anything less than that, and I don't think Reynolds would return if that was the case. He was already part of one Deadpool abomination in 'X-Men Origins Wolverine', and he's definitely at the point in his career now where he has enough capital to say no to shit.

For that reason alone, I'm pretty optimistic that we can look forward to another successful sequel.
