New York City Cops Broke Up A 200 Person Underground Fight Club In The Bronx Over The Weekend

No one lives up to their reputation more than people from the Bronx. This isn't me talking shit, this is me stating a fact. When you think Bronx you think rough and tumble, take no shit, kinda crazy, a little scary, and fiercely proud. The only people more vocal about where they're from are people from Brooklyn only they're more obnoxious about it. Which is why I'm not at all surprised that a fight club was taking place in none other than the Boogie Down Bronx this weekend...

On Saturday night, the New York City Sheriff's Department busted a large indoor gathering that, according to officials, had more than 200 people packed inside a building for an event going by the moniker "Rumble in the Bronx." This event was, according to authorities, part of an illegal fight club.

As a result, 10 organizers have been charged with crimes related to: illegal combat, loaded firearms, and the lack of a liquor license. More specifically, the event's CEO, Michael Roman, was hit with eight charges, including unlawful assembly and conducting a prohibited combat sport.

The sheriff's office put out a statement in which they said, in part, "Patrons were also observed drinking alcohol, smoking, hookah, and not wearing face coverings while failing to social distance."

They also fired off this tweet...

I guess the 'CEO' of the fight club (probably a bad idea to brand yourself the CEO of an illegal activity) forgot number one rule of fight club- don't talk about it. That means don't talk about it to your friends, don't talk about it to your family, and most definitely don't pump it out on social media for the general public to consume.

That said, I would've loved to have been a fly on the wall before the cops broke it up. Can you imagine how crazy the people in there must have been? We're in the middle of a pandemic and they're packing into a warehouse to watch people fight? Unsanctioned? These New York City cops don't get paid enough.

Apparently there was also a 200+ person gathering broken up in Chelsea but that one didn't make the news. Funny how that works. Then again, Horse Meat Disco is a a different kind of dangerous. Take it away, Brad!
