This Ball State Defensive Lineman Just Had the Chance Every Big Man Dreams Of

This Ball State defensive lineman just had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to live out every big man's dream.

Every lineman, from middle school football to the NFL, just sits up at night thinking about what would ever happen if they scooped up a ball in the right situation and took it to the house. Sure, every once in a while you'll have a defensive lineman fall on a ball in the end zone or return one 10 yards, but this scenario comes around once in a blue moon.

There he is. Ball in his hands, 90 yards of wide open grass. You finally have the chance to show all those asshole skill position players that you're an athlete, too. All he has to do now is get there.

And then it all comes crumbling down before he even reaches the 30-yard line.

Watching this truly broke my heart. It took me back to all the high school football practices where I would daydream about what might happen if I ever found a way to get my hands on a football. I just knew I'd score. One week, we played a team that ran a ton of screen passes and the defensive line got to do one period of an interception drill and that's still a top 10 day of my life — I absolutely owned the rest of those fatsos, for what it's worth. But I never got the opportunity this big fella got tonight.

This one could have been in the Big Man Hall of Fame. But instead, it goes down as another heartbreaking shoulda, woulda, coulda.
