GameDay Probably Should've Gone To Marshall Instead Of Augusta For The Masters....

The news of the day in the college football world comes via College GameDay. Thanks to our special sports year due to the pandemic, the Masters will be on the weekend of November 14th and GameDay will be there.

At first, I thought it was pretty cool. Augusta is in SEC country after all. Then I saw Marshall Twitter (which surprisingly is a thing) raise a good point....why not come to West Virginia?

November 14th is a special day for Marshall, who has a pretty good football team this year. Every year GameDay usually picks one off the path location. It may be North Dakota State, Amherst, or Western Michigan. ESPN has the rights to The Masters, but only for the first 2 rounds....so, they'd be promoting The Masters on a Saturday morning to a college football audience to go watch that on CBS instead of their various games on their networks throughout the day. Of course, they've done this before with going to a location for a game not on their network, but at least it was a college football game and not a golf tournament.

Ultimately, this move doesn't matter that much. It's not like GameDay was going to have fans at their show anyway. Still, I'm sure that Marshall would've appreciated the appearance from GameDay. A missed opportunity, but hey, Lee Corso will do some wacky Tiger woods bit at Augusta and everyone will love it!
