NY Post- Thanks, Dave. Now get out! CBS wasted no time in kicking David Letterman’s set to the curb. Sentimental fans gathered outside the Ed Sullivan Theater on Thursday to watch as stagehands unceremoniously crushed and sawed through iconic pieces of the “Late Show” backdrop the day after the final show. “I can’t believe they’re just demolishing the whole thing. It’s shocking,” said Stephanie Strausz, of Manhattan, who scored a second-row ticket to Wednesday’s star-studded finale. “It should go in the Smithsonian, not the Dumpster,” she said. Strausz was one of many “Late Show” lovers who successfully snagged a keepsake from a theater Dumpster that overflowed with red audience seats and bits of the bridges that made up the set behind Letterman’s desk. More than a dozen fans waited for the workers and security to clear out Thursday evening before descending on the talk-show trash like vultures, scavenging for salvageable relics.

That’s life, people.  Onto the next one.  No better representation of life than that.  Either you’re worth something to us or we’re throwing your shit in the garbage.  Were they unscrewing the bolts to those set pieces while Letterman’s farewell montage was going on with the Foo Fighters?  They almost had to be.  It took them no time at all to get it outta there and into the nearest dumpster.  They didn’t even try and hide it either,  Maybe take it to a dumpster a couple miles away?  Nope. Right out front.  Sure, David Letterman is a legend blah blah blah.  He changed the way people do late night blah blah blah.  He slept with a bunch of his female staffers blah blah blah.  MOVE IT OUT, OLD MAN!  We’ve got Stepehn Colbert coming in and he needs a new set.  You’re old news.  Unless you’re gonna make us laugh by dancing like a puppet we don’t need you.  Again, that’s life.  You’re either worth something or you’re not.

PS- What an absolute GOLD MINE for Letterman fans.  I wasn’t a Letterman watcher.  I missed the boat with him.  But if I was a fan?  I’d be swan diving into those dumpsters to get a piece of the stage. No doubt.
