Don Shula Bashes The Pats For Deflategate. Promptly Named In Lawsuit That Says He Threatened To Cut Players If They Didn't Take Illegal Painkillers

Profootballtalk –  Hall of Fame coach Don Shula has never hidden his contempt for Patriots coach Bill Belichick. So when Shula appeared today at a 50th anniversary celebration of the Dolphins franchise, it was no surprise that he took a shot at the Patriots. Shula referenced Deflategate in his comments, contrasting the way the Dolphins won with class with the way Beli-cheat, as Shula calls him, wins with something less than class. “Always done with a lot of class. A lot of dignity. Always done the right way. We didn’t deflate any balls,” Shula said, via Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald.

ABC – Hundreds of former players have filed a lawsuit claiming all 32 NFL teams, their doctors, trainers and medical staffs obtained and provided painkillers to players — often illegally — as part of a decades-long conspiracy to keep them on the field without regard for their long-term health. The new lawsuit also claims that several former head coaches and assistants — among them, Don Shula, Howard Schnellenberger, Wayne Fontes, Mike Holmgren and Mike Tice — warned players they would be cut from their teams unless they took painkillers and returned to the field.

So for those keeping score at home. Just like everybody else Don Shula hates the Patriots. So naturally he had to chime in on Deflategate even though nobody gives a fuck about his opinion. He had to start yapping about how the Dolphins always won with class and a lot of dignity. Always did things the right way. Never had to deflate footballs blah, blah, blah.

Well fast forward to yesterday and guess what? Don Shula is specifically named in a lawsuit as a coach who threatened to cut players unless they took illegal painkillers to stay on the field despite knowing it was a risk to their heath.   Squeaky Don ain’t so squeaky clean anymore huh? Hmm what do you think is worse Don? Feeding players illegal drugs and putting their lives in danger or potentially taking 1 PSI out of a football?   So if I were you Don I’d probably keep my old ass mouth shut. And don’t give me the “But Everybody was doing it” excuse. That doesn’t matter. Everybody fucks with the footballs too.   If the Pats are cheaters than the Dolphins should have all their wins vacated under Shula.   Moral of the story don’t throw stones at glass houses. The NFL continues to be the most hypocritical organization in the world.
