Sunday Bloody Sunday

What a brutal first hour of football. Nick Bosa: dead. Saquon Barkley: injured on consecutive plays and eventually carted into the locker room. The Dallas Cowboys.

I know everyone is in a hurry to get rid of the preseason, but it looks like playing a couple warm up games before jumping into the real thing remains a good idea. Obviously this isn't the first time there have been catastrophic injuries on an NFL Sunday. It's part of the game. Preseason or not, nothing is going to completely remove injuries from football. But going directly into full speed game action can't possibly be the most ideal scenario for the largest humans on the planet. I understand they don't have a preseason in college, you know what else they don't have? NFL players. Give 'em a couple games to get their sea legs about them and get them re-acclimated to game speed. That feels ideal to keep in non-international pandemic years.

UPDATE: Things have not improved. Good grief.
