Kanye West Claims "God Told Him To Grab The Mic From Taylor Swift" At The 2009 VMAs

Fox News - The rapper, mogul and presidential candidate, 43, appeared on Nick Cannon’s podcast, “Cannon Class,” where they discussed myriad issues, including abortion, politics and, of course, the unforgettable moment he stormed the stage and sparked a now decade-long feud with Swift.
West explained that he believes God told him to take the stage that night and that everything had aligned to make it happen.
“God has a calling on all of us and he uses us in different ways,” he told the host (via the New York Post).
For those who don’t remember, Swift took the stage to accept the award for best female video for “You Belong With Me” when West joined her onstage, grabbed the microphone and declared that Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” was more deserving of the award.
“If God ain’t want me to run onstage and say Beyoncé had the best video, he wouldn’t have sat me in the front row,” West told Cannon of the incident.
“I would’ve been sitting in the back and they would’ve made it the first award and he wouldn’t have made it so ridiculous,” West continued. “Because I had never heard of this person before and ‘Single Ladies’ is one of the greatest videos of all time.”
He concluded by saying at the time he felt like God was talking to him directly.
“Right now, God is giving me the information and he ain’t give me no other information … So that means he wants me to say this now,” he explained.

Call Kanye crazy but I respect the hell out of this defense.

If God didn't intend for Kanye to do what he did then why was he sitting in the front row huh?

Because MTV's production department goes through hours and hours strategizing seating for camera views and eye balls?

Spare me.

It's called divine intervention. Ever heard of it?

Kanye would have been sitting in the back and they would have done "Video of The Year" as the first award of the night (at the Video Music Awards) not the last. Duh.

So clearly God wanted this to happen. Kanye was just carrying out orders.

This defense will probably play out well in everyday life too.

Have to imagine at this point Taylor just breaks shit everytime this story gets dug back up and talked about by Kanye. It just won't die and go away. She will forever be linked to Kanye West. Not one of her dozens of loser ex-boyfriends, but instead one of the craziest nutjobs to ever walk the Earth.

Kanye also doubled down on his borderline offensive invocation of religion yesterday with his snake oil salesman pal Joel Osteen.

Over the weekend, the two were spotted—thanks in large part to some footage shared by Kim Kardashian—engaging in some sort of God thing involving the illusion of walking on water at a lake near Pinewood Studios. As TMZ explained in their take on this performance, Osteen gave a water-based sermon. The illusion bit, of course, references what bible readers will recall is a purported Jesus miracle spoken of in the New Testament.

p.s.- Kanye claiming he had never heard of Taylor Swift until that moment is an all time bullshit claim. ALL TIME. Taylor's worst selling album ever (Reputation, obviously) has sold more (3.5 million copies) than Kanye's best (College Dropout 3.3 Million copies). Check her stats.
