It Is With A Heavy Heart That I Must Announce My First Ever Undraftable Prospect

People think scouting is all glitz and glamor. All the late round hits, all the hours grinding tape, digging and digging until you stumble upon a diamond in the rough. What they don't tell you is all the misses. The countless thousands of players who just don't have *it*. It's nobody's fault. But the business is cold and harsh. Unforgiving and unrelenting. You make your mint off the backs of other people's talents. You talent cannot be giving out jobs to anyone who straps on a helmet and shoulder pads. No. Your talent has to be your eye and your gut. Otherwise, what good are you?

Now most wont be able to see it from this tape, but Megan here is not a good cornerback. Some would argue she fucking stinks out loud. Blown assignments. Unawareness of down and distance. Running the complete wrong direction on that second pass for some unknown reason. But even still in my old scout's heart I can't help but notice how extremely coachable she is. The raw talent will not jump out at you. Not in coverage. Not in rushing the passer. But anyone who can take that kind of coaching? I wont say she has zero place in this league. That kind of mental toughness has birthed countless champions over the decades. So while I wouldn't waste a draft pick on Megan I think you'd be foolish to not call her agent the second undrafted free agency kicks off and get her into camp. Who knows, maybe she flourishes in your system. Maybe she's been playing out of position all this time. Maybe she was just too raw during this game and has another level you couldn't see coming. That's what the UDFA pool is for. You take your swings and if they connect, you're thrilled. I think being about to take a scolding from a man coaching this game like it's the late fourth quarter in the Super Bowl shows the kind of mentality and commitment to getting better that any coach would love to have in their locker room. So Megan, enjoy your draft weekend. No need to keep your ringer on during any of those seven rounds because no one will come a-callin'. But the second the draft is over? Get ready to ink that dotted line.
