Cal Ripken Jr. Announced That He Is Cancer Free After Being Diagnosed With Prostate Cancer In February

Scary news today about Cal Ripken Jr. being diagnosed with Prostate Cancer back in February, and having surgery in March. In typical Iron Man fashion, he is fully recovered and said on a Zoom call with reporters that he didn't need chemotherapy or radiation. That's absolutely incredible.

He mentioned to reporters that he had a three-month checkup to see if everything was clear and he got the thumbs up that the cancer was contained and it's all gone. Again, that is amazing news that they were able to diagnose it, remove it, and completely clear the cancer out from the body. Orioles have been hit HARD by the C word just this season alone. Ripken was diagnosed right around the same time as current face of the franchise, Trey Mancini. Mancini has a few more treatments and should be done by the end of September. Cal mentioned wanting to get the surgery done ASAP due to the Coronavirus pandemic kicking up right around that time too. Dealing with cancer normally is terrifying, couldn't imagine having to deal with it with an incoming pandemic. Leave it to the Iron Man to be diagnosed, have surgery, and fully recover in half a year. Happy to hear that all is well with Cal and looking forward to the 25th Anniversary of 2131. The big message behind Cal's announcement was to get checked. Go do it, you guys.
