Remember How People Said Makur Maker Would Just Go To The NBA Draft And Him Picking Howard Was All Talk - Guess What Happened?

Remember when Makur Maker announced he was going to Howard and everyone just assumed he was doing it for all talk? That he was just going to the NBA Draft anyways. Well, we're about to see a 5-star recruit play for an HBCU next season and that's fucking awesome.

Makur Maker is the cousin of Thon Maker and yeah, you might say he's pretty good. The dude is legit 7'0", has handles and can play in different schemes. He's obviously the biggest name to commit to an HBCU. Howard might be the most known HBCU, playing in the MEAC. Either way this is a massive and awesome story. I've talked before about how we're seeing guys go different paths - the biggest names aren't all going to Kentucky, Duke and Kansas anymore. We're seeing more at Georgia, Washington, Gonzaga, fill in the blank of the 'non-traditional' blueblood program. And now we can add Howard:

Makur talked about how he ended up at Howard, saying he didn't see it as a sacrifice:

It's going to be unreal to see Makur play for Howard and in the MEAC. Howard was ranked 350th out of 353 teams in KenPom last year. They were 4-29 with with one of the wins coming against a non-Division I team. Now you're adding a dude who picked Howard over UCLA, Memphis and Kentucky? We've never really seen anything like this before. And this is reason number 1,000 we need a college hoops season.
