That appearance by Don Rickles in 1976 on The Tonight Show is my one of my all time favorite late night talk show moments. The level of stardom on that stage is something none of us today can possibly understand. I mean Frank Sinatra? Johnny Carson? RICKLES? They were arguably the most famous, charming, men on the planet, completely in their element just shooting the shit. The only guy missing was Dean Martin but he was probably still at the bar. You can tell they were actually friends too which made it that much better. Simpler times. Have a great day.
