The MLB Twitter Account Might Want To Re-Think This Jackie Robinson Tweet

Listen, I’m not gonna go as far as to say people should be outraged by that tweet because that’s just silly.  There’s enough real and mock outrage going on around the internet.  We don’t need that.  This isn’t one of those time.  I’ll just say that begging for retweets while using Jackie Robinson as the vehicle for said RTs isn’t the best look.  That’s all.  That social media intern at MLB.com needed to look that tweet over one more time and decide if it was sending the right message (hint: it’s not).  Again, this isn’t outrage.  This is me getting a chuckle out of how, despite having 4.4 million Twitter followers some corporate accounts still don’t understand how the internet is going to react to certain things.  Across sports media Twitter, how many social media interns get fired every year?  I’ll set the over/under at 100.

Oh and one other thing kinda related to sports promotion.  Has anybody else seen these TNT/NBA Playoffs commercials?  Promoting them as Hero Ball?  I saw it last night and was thoroughly confused.

Last time I checked, Hero Ball isn’t a good thing.  Hero ball is what that dude playing ball at the rec center does when he thinks he’s the best player to ever lace ‘em up.  Oh well.  Maybe TNT is trying to change the meaning of what Hero Ball means.  Or they’re just idiots.
